Traffic People & Motel Rocks..
After the success of our photoshoot featuring two of our favourite brands Motel Rocks & Traffic People last week here at WRUW HQ for our eZINE, I thought a quick Blog mention was in order.
Everyone is shouting about these brands at the moment so I thought we’d give a little rundown on their history and why their own styles work so well. Motel Rocks represents a style of electric mix punk with fun retro tones. We love Motel Rocks fun attitude & the fact that they create their own trends rather than follow others, you can see that in the collections only a hint towards trends in the designs are used. Motel also has a strong celebrity following with stars such as Alesha Dixon, The Tings Tings, Marina & the Diamonds and most recently Holly Willoughby who was snapped wearing the Pamela dress was £39 NOW £22 wow!!!

Traffic People is 9 years old this year and has seen major exposure on the music scene.. in fact girl band of the moment The Saturdays all wore this seasons flirty playsuits at the Isle of Wight Festival and looked fantastic!
Traffic People has a certain flair when it comes to emulating the style of iconic divas such as Bianca Jagger from the Studio 54 era, think confident, sexy & flirty with an element of fun!! The S/S 11 collection shows how to work floaty silks, old time glamour while combining scenes from romantic strolls on the beach.

Office Life
I thought I would do a daily update around office life today. We are a busy little team and I (Lara) am hugely missing Danni from the office. She has been sunning herself in Spain this week leaving me to update twitter, FB, our blog and Ezine. As a result I have got nothing done, but she’ll return tomorrow to feel very much appreciated. I will take the opportunity to make a deliberate faux pas and give away a ladies age. Happy 30th Birthday Danni.
Hollie has been in London attending shows that she will update us all on next week, and the boys have been busily working on updating our Facebook app to give all you lovelies an improved outfit builder. Yeh! I’m glad to see we have started to get entries to our competition to win a Juicy Couture bag, but would like to see more.
We have been getting notices of sales and offers by the droves this week, far too many to mention and we are loving the bargains out there, while it’s great for all you shoppers I’d imagine all those indies out there are however feeling sick by the enforced sales, care of the High Street and major retailers. This I have to say is the most cut price sale period I think I have seen and it is certainly early, great for all those purchasing for summer holidays. We have decided however not to spend hours altering prices on our occasionwear directory as it seems like most of it has gone into sale. So we hope you enjoy the surprise if when you click through to buy you discover it is in sale.
We are looking forward to reporting over the next few weeks about what’s coming into stores and trends for Autumn/winter 2010, my favourite time of year for clothes!
Happy sales shopping ladies. I hope you like my dress choice from French Connection, I’ve snapped up a black one which I intend store and then team with killer heels and a fabulouse cluster bracelet for a christmas party!!! Now that’s planning ahead xxx

Get Shorty!
I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy so wearing little girly skirts has never really been a staple look of my summer wardrobe. The threat of a sudden gust of wind creates a highly embarrassing situation unless of course I’d been blessed with pins that would make Elle Macpherson jealous (I can confirm this is not the case) otherwise I’d welcome any surprise breeze. Most of us however panic and grab as much fabric as humanly possible with both hands (which ironically seems to happen while walking past a group of builders!)
So how glad I was to see so many shorts on the high street this Spring/Summer, a pair for everyday.. Linen & cotton style’s that team with pumps, ballet shoes & espadrilles. Silk & laser cut shorts wear with heeled sandals and peep toe shoe boots to give maximum impact and I love the versatility that a pair of shorts can give, the term “dress up or down” absolutely applies to shorts and since the tailored city short burst onto the high street 5 years ago the reinvention is continuous as this seasons laser cut silk over fold designs prove. So as always we’ve picked the best of the rest with our mini WRUW rundown selection….

Sugar Coated Easter Treat..Outfit of the Week !
Hotcross buns, chocolate egg overload and family & friends with good food on the table takes up most of our Easter break.. but we need to look stylish while we tuck into our sugar coasted treats !! So here is WRUW’s outfit of the week …
Starting at the top, this shoe lace straw hat from Jigsaw £45 is uber cool…
Feel fitted with this seamed denim corset top.. and to keep off the Spring breeze team it with this blush cropped cable cardi…
These stella trousers from French Connection are classic and bang on trend they will look great dressed up with a sequin vest for evening or an outfit like this but always wear with strappy high heeled sandals otherwise you’ll make your legs look short..
To complete the outfit we have these adorable pumped heels from KG at £150 they are an investment but they are so versatile you’ll be wearing them with everything..

Interview with Kaley Gardiner founder of The Last Detail
The Last Detail provides gorgeous table decorations and finishing touches and has been established since 2002.
DB: What inspired you to start your own business?
KG: I felt that at the time of my wedding that no body was pulling things together under one roof so to speak and wanted it to be high end product I wanted to be able to say “you would love this on your table” !
DB: Why did you decide to sell table decorations?
KG: Well again when I was looking around for my wedding there was the typical confetti look and I thought surely there must be other things to decorate tables.. and in the last 8 years it has really changed and evolved where we sell over 700 products.
DB:: My friend is in the middle of organising her wedding with your experience what’s the best advice you can give her?
KG: I would say that the first thing is to enjoy the planning process..it shouldn’t be stressful it is about one thing and that is marrying the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. I would say do not begin to even think about what your going to put onto your tables until you have your colour theme sorted. This will then determine your bridesmaid dresses which will then determine your flowers and that’s the time to come to us !
DB: What’s the “last detail” that most people forget but really they shouldn’t?
KG: I would say 20% out of all our orders are within the week of the wedding, for example we’ll get an order on the Tuesday and the wedding is on the Saturday for things like favours yet they really finish off the table but the most common touch girls overlook is a guest book and its the kind of thing you think you don’t need but people enjoy writing personal messages in the guest book.
DB: So after browsing your site I noticed that you had different themes available and my favourite being a romantic at heart was the Romance theme with roses petals etc, which lead me to wonder how & where do you get your inspiration from?
KG: Well I normally scour the interior design magazines because often the trends that come from the magazines follow onto the high street and then we can use then as table decorations, we also attend alot of international trade fairs to see what colours are coming through which are the strongest so for example I’m very confident that purple is going to be a very popular colour for weddings this year and another theme for this year is the Great Britain Union Jack flag, in fact we’ve just been doing a photo shoot for a Conde Nast magazine and discussing how we can translate that theme onto tables.
DB: Do you think the government provides enough help for women in business?
KG: Honestly I’m not sure whether they do, we are a member of the Federation of Small Businesses and they are not government run, Business Link have been useful for financial strategies etc, but I find much of my support comes from other women in business, either a business owner or they are very senior in business. I think private organisations like FSB have been phenomenal, so I don’t think it’s that the government haven’t been useful I just think it would be dangerous to completely rely on what they supply.
DB: What advice would you give to women that are thinking of starting a business?
KG: Gosh! Don’t think you can run a successful business and have a baby at the same time, I thought I could and I can honestly say if you try and do both at the best of your ability something has to give, and the thing I have learnt is that something is family this has to be the priority and I think you have to be highly organised, have a logical mind and learn to be resilient. Also it’s about sticking with it, there are alot of times when you want to give up but I have a mantra pinned on my office wall that’s been there from day one, it says: ” never never never give up !”.

Outfit of the Week… we so want this outfit !!
Adding new brands and collections to our Occasion Wear Directory is an enviable job by anyone’s standards, however it can have it’s downsides. How can that possibly be I hear you cry EASY because to be dangerously exposed to gorgeous clothes everyday take’s great will power not to blow the monthly clothing budget in one day.. so I have come up with a solution to this I will post a WRUW dream outfit once a week and promise to only purchase one item from the entire outfit … ..Well I promise I’ll try
