Outfit of the Week… we so want this outfit !!

Adding new brands and collections to our Occasion Wear Directory is an enviable job by anyone’s standards, however it can have it’s downsides.  How can that possibly be I hear you cry EASY because to be dangerously exposed to gorgeous clothes everyday take’s great will power not to blow the monthly clothing budget in one day.. so I have come up with a solution to this I will post a WRUW dream outfit once a week and promise to only purchase one item from the entire outfit … ..Well I promise I’ll try

Tootsie Treat.. This seasons shoe style for Prom,Weddings or Girl’s Night Out

The sun has definitely made a break through this week so I think it’s a good idea to put “spring” in your step ! How do we do that I hear you ask ? It’s easy, over the last few days the WRUW team have been busy scouring the assortments of shoes on offer for S/S ‘10.

Wedges, Clogs, brightly coloured strappy high heeled sandals and flower finished evening shoes  are massive this season and if your not ready to brave it with bare tootsie’s then team your wedges with silky spun socks for that geek glam feel seen on many a model during the catwalk parade..

Alexander McQueen: A tribute & my favourite moments in pictures

So many tributes and heartfelt words are flooding in from all over the world regarding the sad loss of a breathtakingly brilliant designer.  Lee McQueen was known throughout the fashion industry as “the hooligan of fashion” for his anti establishment and non conformist attitude.  However there was no denying his natural talent from the age of 3 he was drawing and at 12 he knew he wanted to be a fashion designer.  It was down to his beloved mother who arranged for him to fulfil an apprenticeship at Savile Row who were at the time looking for new talent in tailoring.

He soon moved on to study design at Central Saint Martin’s, after showing his final collection it was obvious that he was a thought provoking innovative designer and this didn’t go unnoticed by fashion talent scout and guru Isabella Blow who was so impressed with his work that she bought his entire collection for £5000.

Consequently the fashion power house Givenchy appointed him as head designer succeeding John Galliano and his debut show didn’t disappoint.  Models stalked the catwalk while machines sprayed them with bright coloured paint as they held their arms up in mock horror.  His shows were expressions of deep passion and often disturbing, yet always dramatic.

In typical McQueen style he began to alienate his French employers which resulted in the Gucci Group offering him his own label.  Here they understood and accepted his bad boy behaviour and McQueen delivered collections that further increased his popularity, respect and talent.

Lee Alexander McQueen was named the British Designer of the year 4 times and was awarded a CBE.  As a young designer I followed his work with great enthusiasm and eagerness that no other designer has or will recreate with young aspiring creative’s again.  He was an innovator who combined cutting edge technical design with natural influence that always reached into your emotions good or bad.  He will be sadly missed, a British icon lost but never forgotten his work will live on.

Prom shoes

All girls know that your Prom dress is just the beginning of the shopping process when preparing for your big night. Shoes are just as important and accessories finish the look, with so much on offer how do you choose?

The team at WRUW are here to help and to show you which designs we like and website you’ll enjoy!

Every girl dreams to look her absolute best when it’s her prom night and fashion can be painful.. or rather it doesn’t have to be if you are sensible on the heel height. It is advisable instead of opting for a Sarah Jessica Parker style skyscraper to only fall over making your entrance (ala Naomi Campbell ) make sure before you make your purchase girls that you can walk around the shop floor without a tumble!

Straight in at the top of the most enviable prom shoe has to be (and unfortunately the most expensive we have featured) are these gorgeous Gina’s Campari shoe.

campari

At £445.00 they are not you call an impulse buy, they are however an investment for the future. With the Swarovski alabaster diamonte and metallic leather finish I guarantee that these babies will go with anything! (Available from the WRUW Directory.)

Moda in Pelle have quite an impressive selection of glitz/ glam sandals I spotted the Spyra style which I liked because the ankle strap is simple and the cross over diamonte detail really is a statement plus they look like they would keep your toes in place while you concentrate on your dance moves…  £ 120 120mm heel

For those of you that like to keep your finger on the fashion pulse and you are looking for a prom shoe thatâs bang on trend with a twist of originally with your prom dress then look no further than these (a brilliant find if I do say so myself) The name says it all the introducing the Martini shoe from Schuh. For young fashionistas these are right on the money, corsages on the upper body are sooo last season itâs all about the ankles! They scream Hollywood glamour but without a red carpet price tag…

Martini £43.87 (black & gold or Silver)

These pink/bronze high heel sandals from Pied a Terre have a gladiator feel to them and are very similar to the ones seen on the catwalk for Alberta Ferretti this season, of course if you can only wear shoes like this if your dress is simple. The colour is very original this pink/ bronze metallic, gorgeous!

Pied a Terre £120
