North West Women in Business Awards
It was an absolute pleasure to attend this year’s Northwest Women in Business Awards. It is a night that brings together the women that are behind some of the region’s most innovative and successful companies.
The awards help encourage more female entrepreneurs and WRUW were thrilled to be part of this exciting occasion. Set in the picturesque Ribby Village this black tie event was filled with sparkle and glitter, the dresses were truly fabulous !
The categories varied from Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award ( sponsored by John Lewis ) to the Northwest Business of the Year (sponsored by Barclay’s Wealth ). Even though the nominees had varied backgrounds they all shared stories of inspiration.

Same dress, same red carpet !
You receive an invitation to a party, fantastic; we all love a party, especially as it gives us an excuse to shop! You can spend hours looking for that special outfit to ensure you look fabulous. You know your ex is going to be there, and you need to make sure you look great! Can you image the horror of walking into a room, turning around and seeing someone wearing the same dress…?
You realize that you are standing out from the crowd for the wrong reason; another guest is wearing your dress! The dress you’ve laboured to find, and worse, she looks better in it than you do arrrggghhh!
It is this embarrassing fashion faux pas that prompted Lara Clark to create this site so that women need never feel this fear again!
Celebrity Slip up’s..
With designers throwing their collections at celebrities you would think that this problem would never happen on the red carpet, if your a stylist please take a look at our VIP area when it launches later this year to help your celeb fighting the same dress stand off !
Most recent of celebrity double dress slip up’s is classical music singer Hayley Westenra and model/ gladiator Amy Guy wearing the same green ,pink and black striped dress to the premiere of rom com Marley & Me. A red carpet bystander said, ” It was a real shame, they’re both gorgeous girl’s and had clearly gone to a lot of trouble to look their best. They must of been quite embarrassed when they saw each other”
It really can happen to anyone, here we have the queen fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker looking fabulous in a stunning Nina Ricci dress for the New York premiere of Sex in the City, now even though the lady on the right (Lauren Santo Domingo) did not attend the premiere she had in fact already worn it an hour previous at another red carpet event on the other side of town! in front of the world’s fashion media! SJP was reported as saying that she was “disappointed the dress had been allowed to be worn twice..”
Unlike SJP Jessica Simpson turned up in the same dress as Deborah Norville at exactly the same time, again all the paparazzi were there to capture one of the biggest fashion blunders. As if walking down the red carpet together wasn’t blushing bad enough they had to present an award together too, OUCH.
Well they do say great minds think alike and they certainly do here.. Kathering McPhee (American Idol) and January Jones (Mad Men) had the same dress at the Tao Las Vegas 2nd Anniversary…
There was no mistaking the fact that Karen Le Frok and Muffie Potter had the same white dress at the Spring Gala, New Yorker’s should really start using WRUW !
