SATC Style Dresses without the Price Tag!

Looking to emulate some of the style from the latest SATC movie? Well we don’t blame you. As SJP has said herself some of the outfits are just ridiculous, i.e. wearing couture on a camel in the dessert, but worn to the right event, amazing. We have scoured our pages and the scenes from the sex and the city 2 film and here are two of the best examples we have found that capture the style.

Carrie Style Dress (This one is from America, but they do ship to the UK for $35 which is approx £25, Dress not available until 30th July, but worth the wait)

Clothes Show Live part 1

In such a media focused society more than ever we are exposed to celebrity magazines and I have often wondered what it would be like to be a photojournalist.  So the day I received my invitation to report the Clothes Show Live I grabbed the digital camera and jumped on a train to Birmingham !

On arrival I  remembered how big the NEC is, having not been since my teens it brought back memories of my friends and I dressed in our best outfits hoping that a model scout would say that you were destined to be the next Kate Moss.  Looking at the amount of girls dressed to kill I realised that they too had the same dream.  At the press office I was handed a itinerary of photo opportunities, first being the launch of Pink Bubbles Champagne aided by the cast of Hollyoaks.  Before I knew it I was in the competitive world of paparazzi where only biggest camera or  elbow would survive and my little hardy digital didn’t stand much of a chance…

..so while the Hollyoaks stars were signing autographs and chatting with fans I made my way around the varied stalls from clothing, accessories beauty and lifestyle products.  I saw so many new fabulous products however I have selected a couple to tell you about.   A hair product that caught my eye is this  fantastic new invention that had a successful launch in Las Vegas;  Secret Hair Boostias.  They do exactly what they say on the tin without wasting time with hair extensions this little gadget gives you the ultimate hair boost for a night out with the girls or a daily lift !

Same dress in the city?

Hello everyone…

Lazing around on a Sunday afternoon reading the papers when I came across this photo of Kim Catterell ( Samantha SATC ) and Pop princess Miley Cyrus at the SATC sequel wearing the SAME dress… as we know this is the reason that Lara Clark launched WRUW so that this very embarrassing situation  can be avoided!  What makes it worse in this case is the significant age difference and as Kim tried to duck the paparazzi  Sam’s best friend Anthony Marentino shouts, “Mother of God, she’s wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana!”

S/S ‘09 Catwalk to High Street

To help you choose you’re S/S outfits for your up-coming events here’s a summery of on how the catwalk designs can translate to the high street, of course there are so many trends that it is really hard to cover all of them so I have chosen 3 that I feel will be easier to wear.

S/S ‘09 is all about individuality, seems the designers focused on subtly and genuine brilliance rather than making bold and daring trends it’s all about the clothes, opting to reflect the current climate and created pieces to fall in love with and investment classics that have longevity stamped all over them.  Majority of you are likely see a coverage of a catwalk show and immediately discuss how these designs cannot be worn in real life, however most are pieces of art showing the viewer a fantasy world using conflicting silhouettes and bazirre fabrics.  To reflect this point here are photos from Gareth Pugh’s collection (he showed in Paris for the first time A/W) mixing historical (Elizabethan ruffs) with futuristic monochrome.

Of course we had the  major show stoppers but the majority are very wearable, Lanvin takes the prize for the most desirable collection with exaggerated one shoulder satin bows and sleek satin trousers which were  flattering and sexy.

Stella McCartney’s collection displayed an optimistic palette while maintaining her defined signature style with her trademark slouchy tailored jacket teamed with flirty feminine cocktail dresses.

New Nudes touched  most collections and are also easily converted to the high street.  We saw fashion houses such as Burberry Prosum, Donna Karen, Emma Cook and Chloe emulate innocence while combining a luxurious edge.
