Jaeger’s Boutique Collection soon to retail..

This autumn British heritage brand, Jaeger will launch a new collection aimed towards the younger generation of fashion lovers (from late teens and above.) Jaeger Boutique is a venture to make the renowned label more desirable to younger women.

Created with the London scene in mind, Boutique’s ideal consumer is edgy with attitude and utterly fixated with fashion. The collection will encapsulate all the free spirited of the 60s with a contemporary rock n roll vibe. Jaeger is providing the young British woman with an eclectic dressing up box full of classic pieces with a contemporary twist.

Leopard Jacquards, Georgette candy stripes, electric-blue crepe, sweatshirts and silks finished with ravishing pink & red kisses. Hemlines are shorter and the mood is more flirtatious but the classic Jaeger traditional signature style has a heavy presence within the collection..

Get Shorty!

I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy so wearing little girly skirts has never really been a staple look of my summer wardrobe. The threat of a sudden gust of wind creates a highly embarrassing situation unless of course I’d been blessed with pins that would make Elle Macpherson jealous (I can confirm this is not the case) otherwise I’d welcome any surprise breeze. Most of us however panic and grab as much fabric as humanly possible with both hands (which ironically seems to happen while walking past a group of builders!)

So how glad I was to see so many shorts on the high street this Spring/Summer, a pair for everyday.. Linen & cotton style’s that team with pumps, ballet shoes & espadrilles. Silk & laser cut shorts wear with heeled sandals and peep toe shoe boots to give maximum impact and I love the versatility that a pair of shorts can give, the term “dress up or down” absolutely applies to shorts and since the tailored city short burst onto the high street 5 years ago the reinvention is continuous as this seasons laser cut silk over fold designs prove. McQueen’s final collection

Alexander McQueen was known for his showmanship so I cannot help thinking he had something far more dramatic planned for his A/W’10 collection. For a collection that was 80% complete the 16 pieces that was shown in Paris consisted of specially digitally printed fabric with works of art : the angels of Sandro Botticelli and the demons of Hieronymus Bosch ( a particular favorite of mine) — woven into the fabric with Mohawk headpieces teamed with hand carved wooden shoes it displayed his breathtaking vision sadly for the last time.

Who bombed & Who bloomed on the red carpet at this year’s Oscars?

So I hear that the goodie bags alone are worth £80k.. their dresses on average worth near enough the same if not more and the jewellery well we won’t even go there.. so why is it some stylists and their celebs still get it wrong surely it’s not for the PR coverage ? First up the ones that wobbled on the carpet….

OK so Mariah Carey’s not known as a fashion front runner but this navy Valentino number looks too small for her and the brooch makes it look dated

Charlize Theron is the face of Dior and in previous years looks absolutely stunning on the red carpet but this Dior dress did nothing for her.. the colour is all wrong and those weird swirls on the bust?

I think the biggest surprise was our very own Sex in the City favourite Sarah Jessica Parker aka style guru. SJP knows how to work with her figure so why did she opt for the shapeless Channel dress that would be better suited more to statuesque with a fuller figure than skinny and small. Beautiful dress just not on Sarah..

On the other end of the style spectrum was Kate Winslet who looked classy in Yves Saint Laurent, the bodice was simple, cut beautifully and complemented her figure. The accessories kept to a minimum with a matching clutch and Tiffany & Co jewellery worth a couple of million. Wow !

Cameron Diaz delivered too, wearing a show stopping full length Oscar De La Renta gown encrusted in swarovski. Finished with a simple clutch, red lips and diamond drop earrings..

We loved Demi Moore’s fantastic thrill frill dress. It was youthful, fun and the fact that the Atelier Versace dress was the same colour as her glowing LA tan made her glow even “Moore” ..

London Fashion Week: a quick overview

Attending London Fashion Week has been an amazing experience the city itself had a creative buzz in the air with fashionistas networking, exhibiting their work and expressing themselves through their wardrobe and passion for the industry..

I saw so much talent and creativity exhibiting this year; Holly Fulton, Christopher Raeburn, David Koma (to name but a few) that WRUW have decided to dedicate a full feature in our eZINE for these uprising British talents.
